Porn and Hamlet SOUNDS Like A Good Idea…
Okay, maybe the combination of porn and Hamlet appeals more to Shakespearean fetishists. I suppose there are people out there that could be really turned on by pornstars speaking their lines in iambic pentameter. But no, I didn’t get to experience this new art form, I got the porn and Hamlet in two different movies: Zack and Miri Make a Porno and Hamlet 2.
Zack and Miri, it’s about these two people named Zack and Miri. They’re like best friends and all, they’ve lived together since high school, but it’s like totally platonic. And these two, it’s a bit of a surprise, but they’re financially retarded. Despite both having regular jobs, they can’t seem to pay a single damn bill. Then Zack gets an inspired idea, they should totally make a porno. Miri, being the reasonable, responsible one, hems and haws

I Thought I Tuned In For The Oscars, Not The Tonys
If you count 5 years as a long time, then last night I broke a longstanding tradition- I watched the Academy Awards. On February 29, 2004, as The Return of the King was named Best Picture, I realized that this whole ceremony really didn’t do anything to enrich my life or even keep me distracted from general perils of my life. Not only that, even though I thoroughly enjoyed the conclusion of The Lord of the Rings, it was overwrought and way too full of little Tolkien tidbits that only served to lengthen the run time. The award was only given to recognize the three movies, of which The Fellowship of the Ring was clearly the best.
So like John LaRoche in Adaptation., I renounced fish, well, in my case movies. I didn’t completely sever the bond, but I went from

Mamma Shows Titanic Who’s Daddy
Despite not performing together since 1982, ABBA has never really waned in popularity. Somehow they’re still able to sell millions of albums a year. Since a reunion is out of the question, the best way to get your ABBA on has been to see Mamma Mia!, either the musical or, as of June 30th, the movie. Apparently in the United Kingdom, people have chosen to see the movie. Over. And over. And over again.
Mamma Mia! has passed Titanic as the highest-grossing movie to be released in the U.K. It has eclipsed Titanic’s 69 million pound mark (for now) by 100,000 pounds. The total equates to about $106 million.
It’s probably due to the perfect storm of ABBA’s popularity and a pretty decent movie (it snagged two Golden Globe nominations). I’m not entirely sure

Assessing The Weekend: How Long Until High School Musical 4?
The weekend proved to be a two horse race. Outside of High School Musical 3 and Saw V, the only movie that cracked $2,500 per screen was The Secret Life of Bees.

Abandon All Hope Ye Who Read This
Just like Hairspray before it, American Psycho will be made into a Broadway musical and in a couple years that musical will be adapted into a movie.

This Is Going To Get Worse Before It Gets Better
So, I know I’ve been on a anti-remake jag lately, I’ll try to make this the last I talk about it for a while. I just couldn’t help it, once I saw that MTV is remaking The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Lost Genre: Non-Musical
So, one of the things that really gets under my skin is the misclassification of Non-Musicals. There is so much music in the movie that it confuses people.
