 When you hear the name George Romero, the only thing that you can possibly associate it with is zombies. With Night of the Living Dead in 1968, he created the zombie apocalypse genre, as well as redefined what made up the cinematic zombie. Prior to Night of the Living Dead, zombies were generally people under some type of voodoo spell, not the reanimated dead. I think we all owe him a debt of gratitude.

March 17th. It’s one of those nondescript days of the year that you think will never really amount to much. It’s just an extra day before March 18th. But on the contrary, the 17th is pretty sweet.

Gary Sinise was born on this date in 1955 and it don’t matter what else he ever does, he’s never outliving that whole Lieutenant Dan thing.
1927 saw the birth of Rudy Ray Moore. If you don’t mind the language, I’d put up Dolemite as the most quotable movie ever.
Kurt Russell was born in 1951. If he can ever team up with John Carpenter again, I swear it’ll solve the world’s economic problems. Is there a person alive that WOULDN’T pay to see that?

 The Crow will be most remembered for the on-set death of Brandon Lee. That’s unfortunate because it is quite an engaging movie with a fantastic performance by Lee. Many thought it would be his breakout role. Instead, just like his father, he will be remembered for dying young and under controversial circumstances.
Lee’s death cast a pall over The Crow that only intensified the brooding, melancholy tone and Gothic imagery. It’s generally well regarded and has a league of devoted fans. It made nearly $100 million at the box office and spawned four sequels.
