[imdb Suspiria]So, another day, another remake. But damn, couldn’t it have been something like, I don’t know, The Ice Pirates or The Flamingo Kid? No, no, nothing like that. No, it had to be Suspiria. I mean, Portman is even reputed to have said she’d never be in a horror movie. I put Suspiria up as one of the greatest examples of horror as art ever put on film. The bold colors, fairytale atmosphere, dreamlike plot, and terrifying Goblin score set it apart from it’s peers. And now it looks like Natalie Portman will be producing and starring in the remake.
What’s the point? There are so many other movies to remake, why pick one that is a pillar of it’s genre? I guess I’ll eventually have to accept this is the way things are now. You know, I wouldn’t mind if there were a few remakes. It wouldn’t bother me at all. It just seems like every third movie is a remake. I’ve already seen that story once. Maybe I liked, maybe not, but why keep feeding it to me?

so sad, these days its the actress on the movie poster rather than the actress’s talent inside the film. Although I’m not a horror guy, I can seriously imagine how portman can mess things up. Stick to starwars!
